Gomel strengthens cooperation with China

Gomel strengthens cooperation with China

Gomel is actively enhancing its cooperation with Chinese partners and increasing export volumes, Gomel Mayor Vladimir Privalov told BelTA.

He emphasized that Belarus-China cooperation continues to show steady growth and the strengthening of strategic ties. "The visit of the Belarusian president to China marks an important stage in furthering joint initiatives and deepening bilateral interaction. The personal dialogue between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping once again confirms the strong political and economic connections that we continue to develop year after year. Economic cooperation between our countries is reaching a new level, demonstrating stable growth in mutual trade and an increase in export volumes," the mayor stated.

Belarus-China partnership is expanding both at the national and regional levels. Specifically, Gomel has been fostering international cooperation with China. The city has signed agreements with five Chinese cities and a memorandum of understanding with Urumqi. "In 2024, Gomel twined with Handan. Gomel's export volumes to China continue to grow annually," Vladimir Privalov explained.

"The recent visit of our president [to China] outlined new directions to deepen cooperation," he concluded.
